Title: Powerful Photos Reveal The Real People Behind The Military Uniforms (22/22)

Original Location: BoredPanda.com

Discription/Interpretation:

What you see is a photograph of a man looking into a mirror. His reflection is not exact. His reflection is of him in different attire.

In the mirror we see a Special Forces soldier. Outside of the mirror looking in is a man in a nice suit (Business-man).

I think message may be, “who am I suppose to be” (self-identity)

The man in mirror could be what the man either wants to be, misses what he use to be, hates what he sees, or seeing his true identity (a hired killer for our country). This would be a great campaign poster for PTSD awareness (post traumatic stress disorder) an illness connected to many veterans of war.

Use in Teaching:

What do we see? Is there a message here? What is the message and is the message clear? How does this make you feel? In response to this photograph, how does Mitchell make his point? Why is the image a photograph rather than an illustration? Is the photograph the appropriate media for this piece, and why?

Possible project: If we could see how you felt (students) or what you see, what would we see in your reflection? Does this piece have to showcase negative issues, or can it also express something positive?
